S:t Eriksplan

Listed below are not-to-be-missed spots in the area around S:t Eriksplan metro station (green line). See also the posts on second-hand record shops and on contemporary art galleries on Hudiksvallsgatan. Perhaps you want to (1) avoid visiting this area on Sunday as interesting shops are all closed and (2) make sure you arrive by noon on Saturday as most shops and galleries are open between 12:00 to 16:00 only.

Cafes
This area abounds with cafes. The most reputable among them are Xoko at Rörstrandsgatan 15 (run by Magnus Johansson, a patissier in charge of dessert served at the Nobel prize dinner), Mellqvist at Rörstrandsgatan 4 (serving high quality Italian espresso), and Vurma at Gästrikegatan 2 (see the article on this cafe in English by Spotted By Locals).

Takeaway eateries
Known as Stockholm's best hotdog stand, Günter's at Karlbergsvägen 66 allows you to choose from around 20 types of sausages served with grilled bread, sauerkraut, and tasty basil sauce. It's worth making a trip to this hotdog stand even if you hate hotdogs in Stockholm. Günter's hotdog is totally different. Be ready for a queue. Open 11-20 on weekdays and 11-16 on Saturday.

For a weekday lunch, visit Steam at S:t Eriksgatan 118 for tasty Chinese dumplings. Open 11:30-15:00 on Mon-Thu and 11:30-14:00 on Friday.

Fashion
Black Market at S:t Eriksgatan 79 sells selected cutting-edge clothes for men and women. According to SWEDENavi, the owner Cicci Wallin used to be a drum & bass DJ and the store is named after the Black Market Records, the drum & bass record shop in London (now renamed BM Soho, by the way).

Other well-known boutiques include Carin Wester's flagship store at Rörstrandsgatan 24 (open 13-18 on weekdays, 12-16 on Saturday), Patouf at Norrbackagatan 36 (open 12-18 on Wed to Fri, 12-16 Sat), Camilla Norrback's concept store at Norrbackagatan 60 (open 11-18 on Mon-Fri, 12-16 on Sat).

Made By at Vikingagatan 20, opened in 2007, showcases hand-made metal jewelery. Open 12-18 for Wed-Fri and 12-15 on Sat.

Interior
Made By, mentioned above, also sells hand-made metal lamps.

Graffiti
According to SWEDENavi, hidden below the bridge to Kungsholmen is Stockholm's best collection of graffiti and street art.

For kids
If you have small kids in tow, walk one block to the east of the metro station along Odengatan and visit the park (Vasaparken) on your right. On top of the hill spread various playground equipments specially designed for small kids.
