Electronics (incl. mobile phones, audio equipments, Apple products)

The best store for electronics and home appliances in the city center is El-Giganten (Kungsgatan 12-14), a few minute walk from Östermalmstorg metro station. Across the street and one minute walk to the west is a less impressive shop Siba (Kungsgatan 27). On the same street, there is a branch of Macoteket (Kungsgatan 31) for Apple users (see below). Walk further to the west and cross Sveavägen, and on your left is Kjell & Company, which specializes in PC peripherals. These shops on Kungsgatan, a street that runs east-west between Stureplan and Hötorget and is part of the route of Bus 1, are open on the Sunday afternoon, too. After you buy a large and heavy equipment (like a microwave), you can ask the shop assistant to call a cab. Kungsgatan is a large street. So you can just wait outside the store and hop onto a cab to go home with your new household appliances.

Otherwise, take Ikea's free shuttle bus at Vasagatan 18 and visit El Giganten and Expert at Kungens Kurva, located across the street from Ikea.

It appears that a bunch of online electronics retailers exist in Sweden though, of course, their websites are in Swedish. One exception is Dustin, which has an English version of its website (although the translation is not perfect). Click the tiny UK flag icon at the top.

If you are an Apple fan (or fed up with ugly Windows PCs), visit Digital Inn or Macoteket, both of which are designated as Apple Premium Reseller. El-Giganten on Kungsgatan (see above) also sells Apple computers. Remember you can get a discount from Apple if you're employed by educational institutions (ask shop assistants for detail).

For mobile phone handsets: The Phone House (many branches throughout the city) is also an option in addition to those stores on Kungsgatan mentioned above.

If you are into music, sound systems (i.e. quality speakers and amplifiers) are available at Ljudmakarn (Drottninggatan 90B, near Hötorget), Pause (Norrlandsgatan 14, near Östermalmstorg; Sveavägen 17, near Hötorget), and Hi-Fi Klubben (Fleminggatan 89, near Fridhemsplan; S:t Paulsgatan 2, near Slussen; Sveavägen 31, near Hötorget). If you have an unlimited budget and care about the design, Bang & Olufsen (Humlegårdsgatan 20 and Regeringsgatan 52, both near Östermalstorg) is for you.
